SUNBELT PERSONAL FIREWALL

Sunbelt Personal Firewall is a good pick for protecting any computer connected to the Internet via DSL, Cable, ISDN, WiFi or even a Satellite Modem. This is another MS replacement to keep your machines running smoothly. Not necessarily free, but at a rock bottom price.

Sunbelt (formerly Kerio) Personal Firewall is a replacement for Windows XP Firewall. If you're looking for the free Kerio Firewall or a replacement for the Sygate firewall, this is it. There is a free trial period, and the Sunbelt Personal Firewall will keep working after the 30 day trial, just not in a "full" mode (See website for chart and details).

From The Website:
"About the Windows XP Firewall...
The Windows XP firewall gives many people a false sense of security. Unlike SPF4 and other leading stand-alone firewall software, the XP firewall does not block information going out of your PC. The bottom line: Your credit card numbers, passwords, account information and more could be sent from your PC to a hacker, without the XP firewall even detecting the breach."

I am past the 30 day trial and continue to run this utility in the free vs. full version. There is an online offer called "Trial Pay", where you can get the full version for free. Although it also is reasonably priced at less than $20 bucks. Get the trial download at SPF Download Page.

The screen shot above of my desktop shows the easy to understand interface. However, SPF runs unobtrusively in the background and there is little reason to even open up the control panel. Just be sure to run Spybot and CCleaner on a regular weekly basis.

I hope that you find this series and the other Digital Nomad blogs, The SOHO Quest, The Sovereign Journey, and The Rugged Notebooks Network of interest. Please leave your comments and suggestions.

After the actual exam of 350-001, many professionals who are now qualified for VCP-310, prefer going for 640-802 first. In this way they become qualified for 70-290 as well.
